The team at Bond Hair Religion would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Easter. Bond Hair

Leslie's Shoot with Gastar at the Gold Coast
Leslie was the winner of the Star Spot competition, the prize being a photoshoot with amazing Gregson Gastar. The weekend saw some amazing models and some great men's hairstyling. Under Gregson's direction, 6 amazing images were produced, with the collection featuring some grungy styling with strong neck pieces grouped with hairstyles with strong shape and line. The collection will now be released to Leanne Cutler, hairdressing PR extraordinaire, to hopefully be published in magazines around the country. We can't wait for you all to see this amazing collection. Thanks again to Leanne and Gregson for a great weekend and an amazing opportunity.
See picture below, but Leslie still does not know why the toilet was just sitting there?
School Holidays
As school holidays approach Bond Hair Religion will see lots of little tikes getting their locks tended to. So please make sure that you book your little one in quick so you don't miss out.

Hotshots Competition
On the weekend Bond Hair Religion went to Brisbane for the Hotshots Competition in which our senior stylist Leslie was nominated. Leslie unfortunately didn't leave with the winners trophy this year but he did leave with two shiny finalist trophies. This competition is a national competition and is extremely difficult, so congratulations to Leslie for getting this far and we wish him better luck next year.
Hair Biz Forum
In conjunction with the Hotshots awards, Mocha Publishing also delivered the HairBiz Forum. The event saw some amazing talent including motivational speakers Peter Thurin and Julie Piantadosi, hairdressing talent from the Hotshots team, session stylist extraordinaire Lores Giglo, and the UK team Hooker and Young. The motivational speakers uplifted us and showed us how we can head toward our goals and conquer our obstacles. Leslie even went up on stage and conquered his obstacles literally in a form of a wooden board that he broke. The hairdressing teams were very inspiring and each brought their own flavour to the stage. Lores showed us how to style for editorials and magazines teaching us to think outside of the box when it comes to creative styling. The Hotshots team brought a young fresh flavour to the stage showing off their interpretation of trends that are on the way. The Hooker and Young team inspired us with their amazing work and attention to detail. It was great seeing what's going on in Europe and we saw things that we could definitely use in the salon.

No Luck at Hair Expo
This year Leslie entered the category of new creative force at this years Hair Expo awards. Last night Leslie and Jen went to Sydney for the finalist night and unfortunately did not come home with any glory. Although Leslie's entry this year was amazing we all wish him better luck next time. See some images below of the work submitted by Leslie.
As hairdressers we are constantly struggling to inform our clients of the importance of a good in home hair care range. Many clients think that stylists are out to meet targets or push retail onto them. At Bond what we actually want is the best hair for you. At Bond we don't want our clients spending $200.00 on a colour to go home and use a supermarket shampoo that sees you washing your $200.00 down the drain.
Supermarket brand shampoos are normally owned by super companies such as Unilever etc. These companies also also make soap and body gel and use the same base as soaps in their shampoos. Because the cleanser in the shampoos is so harsh they actually penetrate the hair surface washing out the colour molecules. Additionally, supermarket brand shampoos are normally packed with silicone. What silicone does is put a coating on the hair making it feel smooth and shiny but only giving a cosmetic finish. The bad thing about this is that the silicone doesn't wash off leaving a coating on the hair, so when you next have a colour the colour sits on this layer of silicone and slips off leaving you with a dull lifeless colour.
Professional brand shampoo is more expensive than supermarket brands but the benefits far out weight the cost. The reason professional products cost so much is because what's in the shampoo is years of research and the best ingredients to make an amazing shampoo for you that does what it says. Professional brands survive on repeat business so results are what drives these companies and allows them to build their brand. They are in constant competition with many other brands to out-perform each other so you know you are getting the best! Do your hair and wallet a favour and switch to a professional brand and have your colour looking vibrant for longer.

Bond's Work in Culture App
In the Feb/March edition of the Culture Magazine App, Leslie's work was featured in an interactive article which included sliding images and videos. Leslie won this opportunity by entering a Facebook competition and is a great opportunity for exposure and medium for Leslie to share his work. Culture Magazine is the top hairdressing magazine in Australia so this has been a fantastic opportunity.

Interview with our new Stylist Robert
Bond: Why did you choose hairdressing?
Robert: I actually fell into it, as it was put to me "you get to meet a lot of beautiful women, you can be artistic and it's fun" all of the above is true. If you want to be successful you have to live and breath it. If you just want a job there are many jobs out there with a lot less commitment. I still love it.
B: What are your goals/aspirations?
R: I've achieved a lot in my time. I have no regrets and I have already reached a lot of my goals. My aspirations are to have fun doing hair and to help the young hairdressers in the early years of their development.
B: What's your favourite part of hairdressing?
R: Cutting is my favourite part, its easy then followed by colouring. When cutting I love creating new looks as it is fun.
B: What's your favourite moment so far?
R: Styling hair at the Waldorf Hotel in New York for a show, it was so surreal. Meeting Trevor Sorbie (British Hairdresser of the Year) and getting to watch him work. And hearing a client say "I love it" and watching them walk off with their heads held high feeling great.
Trend - Imitating Natural Colour
A trend at the moment is colour that doesn't make the hair looked like its coloured. Its about low maintenance colour of which the purpose is to richen natural colour but keep a natural feel. Using natural or neutral tones mixed with colours of the same tone but slightly lighter give a variated look that naturally occurs in uncoloured hair.
