GOING GALA!!!

On sunday night Leslie completed the last stage of his apprenticeship, his gala night, what that entails is him doing "runway" style presentation for his friends and families held at the salon. Leslie completed 6 models all with very creative, interesting and innovative cuts and colours on the night, the crowd loved it below are a few images that were taken as part of a photo shoot in conjunction with the runway. All Junior stylists once completed there training with Bond get the opportunity to do a show like this, the reason we do this is its a rite of passage from junior stylist to senior senior stylist and it also allows the stylist to show their friends and families what they do.

Trends - Strong geometric cuts
Whats been really popular at the moment is the recreation of some really strong geometric cuts. Recently the hairdressing community saw the unfortunate departing of a hairdressing legend, Vidal Sassoon, the Leader behind strong geometric cuts for women, back in the 1960s Sassoon introduced his cutting edge and revolutionary hair cutting techniques, revolutionising the industry and liberating women with modern and easy to manage hair. Today we are seeing a big come back of this, as a memory of the genius that was Vidal Sassoon.

Interview with Sarah
Bond:Why did you choose hairdressing?
Sarah:I didn't really choose hairdressing I knew nothing about it I just thought it would be easy as I started it as a part time job. I soon learnt that it very physically exhausting line of work but very rewarding, I enjoyed working hard, building relationships and having the client leave happy

B: What's your favorite aspect of hairdressing?
S: I love the fact that one idea, one color or cut concept can be moulded into something beautiful you can choose a shape and design a whole haircut or up style around it

B: What are your goals/aspiratations?
S: I would love to travel overseas and cut hair around the world when I get back open my own salon.

B: What your favourite moment in your career so far?
S: when the clients remember my name and enjoy what your doing to their hair it's great to see the enjoyment people get out of it.

Trend- Temp colouring
There are two new trends in temporary color a process called chalking which involves wetting ur hair and coloring in sections of hair with colored chalk and drying it in and hair stencils which works best on a solid haircut, its the process of taking a stencil of your choice putting it against the hair and spraying it with coloured hair spray you the  remove the stencil leaving this lovely print on the hair

How to keep your hair good for winter

How can you keep your hair good for winter??
as the winter months approach you may notice your hair getting dry and frizzy the team at bond have come up with some methods to keep you hair great over the winter months.....

GHD
GHD's are a great way to seal and de-frizz your hair and keep it looking smooth, sleek and shiny. GHD currently have two new ranges of GHD's avaliable the "peacock" collection and the "Red and black" collection and both are currently selling at Bond Hair Religion starting from at the special price of $269, Be sure to use a heat protectant as well to protect your hair and add shine.

Another way to keep your hair looking it best is shampoo's and conditioners like your body you need to feed your hair and as the saying goes you are what you eat if you are using a cheap supermarket brand home care reange your hair is like to look cheap by feeding your hair with an in salon hair care range with lots of hydration you are feeding your hair with the moisture it needs and you will notice the difference.

Also try incorporating a weekly mask into your home care ritual its like a super food for hair!!! As for styling using a light leave in conditioner such as moroccan oil or potion 9 will help to treat your hair throughout the day with out weighting your hair down and by using a humidity resistant spray it will ensure to lock in your style and protect your hair from the harsh winter conditions.

Our interview with Leslie
Bond: Why did you choose hairdressing??
Leslie: I have to admit hairdressing wasn't my first choice in careers i fell into hairdressing and now i cant imagine doing any thing else

B: What's your favourite aspect of hairdressing?
L: I love all aspects of hairdressing but if i had to pick one it would have to be cutting i  love it because it is so diverse and each cut is different on each person you really have to think

B: What are your goals/aspirations??
L: My immediate goals are to build an amazing clientele and get to build friendships with my client like the other staff at bond, then further down the track i would like to move into education session and editorial work

B: What has been the favourite moment in your career so far?
L: The whole journey has been great but being part of the Gen Next team at Hair Expo last year and being a finalist in the national HotShots competition are two stand out things.

Trends
A cool new trend sweeping the globe is the introduction of shave art and shave design what this entails is using small clipper to etch in shape, patterns and designs into peoples hair although they only last a couple of week its a cool way of doing something different for a special occasion without the long term commitment for all your hair art needs speak to our shave design artist Katie.

Our Recommendation
Recently Jen decided to try a new brand new technology in teeth whiting its called Safe Smile its a peroxide free bleach free teeth whitening system, Jen was really happy with the service and could see immediate results this service is avaliable at Kingston's own Capital Body Sclupting next door to bond hair religion Jen was really happy with Tina's service and professionalism to find out more go to www.safesmile.com.au

The main part of keeping a busy salon ticking is the staff. This week we are excited to announce that our head colourist Maree is returning! After some time off to celebrate the birth of her beautiful little boy Arie, Maree will be in the salon on Saturdays from the 5th of May.

In further updates, Margaret - an intrinsic part of the Bond team for many years - recently popped into the salon for an update of her post-retirement adventures. Margaret has nearly finished her travels around Australia, and plans to settle down for awhile before taking on Europe!

Bond is very excited to announce that two of our fabulous senior stylists, Leslie and Bec, have been selected to style hair this week at Sydney's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for some of Australia's most popular designers. We're very excited for them to show off their talent!
Spotlight On...

Our lovely second-year apprentice Sam has recently returned to Bond! Sam began here in 2009 before moving to Queensland. Back and better than ever, we took the chance to interview Sam about being an apprentice in the industry.

Bond: So, why hairdressing?
Sam: I like fashion and variety and didn't want to just be sitting at a computer! I've always loved doing hair.

B: What's your favourite part of being an apprentice at Bond? Are you enjoying being back?
S: I like being able to learn and to use my creativity. I feel much more confident and love being back, it feels like I never left!

B: What are your thoughts on the new look Bond Hair Religion?
S: It feels a lot more open and functional, the team has changed as well for the better.

B: What do you want to achieve in the next few years?
S: I hope I can become a great hairdresser and have a good clientele. And I'd love to do hair for the fashion industry!

Trends from fashion week
At fashion week so far Bec and Leslie were involved in the Alice McCall and Manning Cartell shows, these saw the use of pinned up twists and braids, our prediction is that this may be the new thing in wearable styling so keep your eye out for these easy to do styles.
