Welcome Back
Our exciting news this week is the return of our wonderful and talented Leah Preston. After two years in the United Kingdom including working and travelling through Europe, Leah has returned to Canberra. Leah will be returning to Bond Hair Religion for a limited time only as her plans are to ultimately move north so we have the joy of her skills until Christmas this year. Leah is available for a full range of colouring, styling and makeup. Leah has worked in a couple of the top salons in the UK expanding her already extensive skill base. She will be with us full time starting Tuesday the 28th of August. It will be a pleasure to work along side Leah again as part of our team and to learn the latest colour techniques from London's Oxford Street where she has spent most of her time whilst overseas.
Jen - Guest Speaker
Jen was a guest speaker at the CIT on Monday evening for Certificate 4 in Hairdressing. She was in good company with the likes of Emilio Cataldo and Sam Calabria of Franco's also being asked to speak. Jen spoke about the importance of communication and customer service in the small business context. These are subjects passionate and close to Jen. She received great feedback and although Jen has a fear of public speaking she was willing to forego that to pass on her knowledge and help build a better industry.
Upcoming Events
Jen has recently been asked to do the hair and costuming for a short film. These are two of the most favourite things that Jen loves to do. We will let you know how she goes.
Leslie is also involved in an array of things at the moment including: Being the head stylist at the sell-out charity event, High Tea for Humanity, to be held for over 200 people in September in Canberra. It has also been recently confirmed that Leslie will be holding courses next year at the Canberra Makeup Academy for makeup artists and beginner hairdressers on how to do up-styling. Leslie has also been appointed Head Stylist for an up and coming Canberra magazine "Hooked on Canberra" part of the "Hooked on World" group which is planning to create an exciting, fresh new glossy magazine to be distributed to every household in Canberra, in conjunction with a online blog due to launch in November. Something Close to our Hearts
White Balloon Day is the Bravehearts signature event held annually during child protection week to raise awareness about child sexual assault, and help empower the survivors to break their silence and fear. Alarmingly 50,000 Australian children suffer this terrible abuse every year and live in silence and fear. Bond Hair Religion will be stocking merchandise for sale to help raise money for this amazing organisation. September 7th is White Balloon Day and the team @Bond will be wearing t-shirts and trying to raise money in supporting Bravehearts to continue their valuable work.
