High Tea for Habitat
We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring a wonderful event called Habitat for Humanity - High Tea in the Capital. Bond Hair Religion is sending our senior stylist Leslie Henshaw to the event to do the hair for all the models and dancers for the fashion show to be held during the high tea. This is marked to be one of the greatest charity events held in Canberra this year. To be a part of it just head over to http://www.trybooking.com/29407 to purchase a ticket at one of the normal or themed tables and support this great charity.
Jen and Shaun's New York Adventure
As some you may or may not know Jen and Shaun are heading off on a wayward adventure to New York later this year. Although most of the trip will be researching and looking at some of the top salons in New York to see how they do things in the Big Apple, some of their plans include going to the famous Cake Boss Bakery in Hoboken and of course seeing other New York sights. If you haven't booked in your appointments for later this year make sure you do as things are going to get pretty busy. More news to come.
Trend - Cornrows
The newest trend in hair ups and hair styling is cornrows. This trend has been seen in both runway and every day hair. It's a great way to get rid of unwanted hair but also is a great way to mimick the "shaved look" without actually shaving parts of the head!

We are sad to announce that Leslie missed out on a place in the FAME team for 2012. However ,we found out that he made it to the Top 5 missing out by a single place. Being in the Top 5 in Australia is an amazing achievement in itself so congratulations to Leslie and we are sure that he will go one step further next time. But please keep voting for Bond's and Leslie's submission into the Wella Trend Vision competition. To vote go to: www.wellatrendvisionpeopleschoice.com.au
Education and Training
Last night the Bond team attended the GHD Avant-Garde styling course. They learnt all the new techniques to create bold and different looks for both runway and the salon. Some of the looks they saw were lots of braiding, textured looks and incorporated temporary colour into up-styling.
Our Nioxin Night
Bond would like to thank all the clients that attended the Nioxin night. It was a great success. The clients were intrigued to see their scalps under the microscope and gain the understanding why their hair is thinning and more importantly, how to treat it. Bond will shortly be getting the microscope technology so next time you visit, if your hair loss is a concern to you, you will be able to speak with Sarah, our own Nioxin specialist, for a full consultation and treatment tailored to meet your needs.

Why do we use shampoo and conditioner?
We use shampoo and conditioner to open the cuticle (the outside of the hair) and cleanse the dirt, oil and skin. Once the hair is rinsed the cuticle sits open and this is where the conditioner comes in. We use our conditioner to close and smooth the cuticle. Without conditioner the cuticle with fill up with dirt, oils and UV rays. UV has the potential to strip the colour and leave your hair looking dull and flat.
Why is it important to use a good shampoo and conditioner?
You may have seen the different types of shampoos and conditioners on the market. For example: moisturizing, volumizing and colour save. With good shampoos and conditioners there are years of research into technologies that have been developed to protect your hair. As the saying goes "you are what you eat", the same goes for shampoo and conditioners. If you use the top of the range moisturizing shampoos and conditioners your hair is going to be greatly moisturized.
Salon versus Supermarket - What the main difference between salon and supermarket brand shampoos and conditioners?
Salon brands stake their reputations on their products, because they sell to professionals and if the product doesn't work the professionals won't recommend the products. They also spend a lot of time and money developing their product to make them work the best for you. Supermarket brands are normally owned by large companies whose main focus is on sales, therefore little to no research goes into their products. Most supermarket brands are filled with silicones which coat your hair and make it look shiny. This has a cosmetic effect and does not provide any benefit to your hair, in fact it's doing the opposite. By coating your hair it doesn't actually allow any natural oil into the hair to moisturize and protect the hair. So when you next need shampoo and conditioner consider the facts!

Trend
We are seeing a come back of the soft messy bun, as a formal and semi formal style. It's great because it's low maintenance and looks great on almost everybody. Expect to see more of this on the red carpet as well.
