Bond @ Canberra Show
On Sunday Jen and Leah headed out to Exhibition Park in Mitchell to do hair for "fashion through the eras" - a runway show, showcasing looks from 1910 - 1990 to celebrate the capitals centenary. They created looks for the 20's and 30's and then a huge change for all the models to the 60's and 70's, with the finale all wrapped up in Big Hair for the 80's and 90's. It was a very busy day with 8 models and 3 changes for each between 7am and 3pm. "My personal favourite was the 80's and 90's as I had worn most of the looks" Jen said. The day was a great success with large crowds watching each parade.
Fashion Shoots by Bond Hair Religion
On the weekend Leslie was involved in a photoshoot with fashion/beauty photography extraordanaire Geoff Jones. Shooting 4 looks, from soft to bold, heavy to glossy, the images were versatile and looked amazing straight from the camera. We can't wait to see the results! Jolina O'Hair was the amazing makeup artist behind the project. Jolina has featured in a lot of Leslie's work and he said it was great to collaborate with her again. Hopefully with equal or greater results. (See Jolina and Geoff's previous work below).
Bond in Canberra Wedding Guide
Recently Bond Hair Religion was featured in the Canberra Times wedding guide. The photo-shoot was a collaboration with TN Photography and Enchante bridal wear in Fyshwick. It showcased Enchante bridals wedding and bridesmaid dresses and the photo-shoot was at the Stromlo observatory.

Katie's farewell letter
To my amazing clients,
I would like to announce I am taking a break from hairdressing to focus on my personal growth and interests. I found a wonderful quote a while ago that said "your life begins at the end of your comfort zone". Reading this helped me make the very hard decision to resign. I would like to thank my clients for allowing me to do your hair for the past few years, you are all what made my time here at bond amazing. I love and will miss you all. I will send regular updates on my whereabouts and on my journey. I will also be popping in from time to time, you might even see me sitting beside you instead of standing behind you :) I wish you all the best and once again thank you.
Sarah's hairdressing bootcamp
On the 11th, 12th and 13th of February I attended a cutting bootcamp with Elite Education at the Hellenic club. During the course I was able to perfect my cutting skills and pick up new ways of cutting.
The 1st day was back to basics making sure all the fundimentals and foundations of cutting were correct. We 1st cut a long layered haircut then a solid bob then a short pixie style. Day 2 was mens cutting where we were able to learn tips and tricks of blending and choosing the right shape for the clients. Day 3 was curly hair where we were taught a completely new way of using the curl to the styles advantage, to layer it without getting the unsightly triangle shape that often happens.
By the end of the course I was feeling very confident with what I had learnt and am looking forward to sharing it with the Bond team.

My Experience with TIGI by Leslie
My first experience with TIGI was
certainly one I'll remember for some time. Walking into the East Hotel I was
greeted by a nice cold beer and a welcoming smile. The trendy location made me
feel right at home and ready to learn. During the course we saw soft tonal colours and classical haircuts with an advanced spin. I was inspired by Sam
Overton's style, he used classic easy to understand techniques and put a new
spin on it. I know that I will definitely play with some of my techniques. It
was great to refresh what I already knew and also learn some new tricks to advance my
work. Chelsea created beautiful colours that were classical yet had hints of
lighter warm tones to create a natural feel, which is definitely on trend with
whats in salon at the moment. I was intrigued by TIGI's tribal consultation
method, assessing people's personalities and putting them into a "tribal
fashion" category. At first I thought this would box people into
categories but the more I thought about it the more that I found that most
clients would indeed fit into the categories and I think clients would relate
to this and allow you to express what would suit their personality.
Interview with Leah
Bond: Why hairdressing?
Leah: I wanted a profession that I could be creative in and a career that I am constantly pushing myself to be better and I was always interested in styling my sisters hair growing up so hairdressing seemed like a good option.
Bond: What are your goals/aspirations?
Leah: To build up a full clientele for the immediate future and to create a portfolio of creative work. I also want to work at Sydney fashion week.
Bond: What's your favourite part of hairdressing?
Leah: My favourite part of hairdressing is when clients leave with a big smile on their faces feeling a million dollars because of their hair and the experience they have had in the salon.
Bond: What's your favourite moment?
Leah: When I had my gala night and graduated after almost four years of hard work.
Client Bares all for Amazing Role
We would love to congratulate our client Nikki-Lyn Hunter in scoring her role as Celia in the Repertory Societies play of Calendar Girls.
Based on a true story, Calendar Girls is the story of how two enterprising women persuade their friends from the local chapter of the Women’s Institute to take part in a fundraising calendar with a very saucy difference. When everything is revealed, can their friendship survive the pressures of sudden fame?
