Education - Day 2

On the weekend Leslie finished his last day of his Hair Up Masterclass at Canberra Makeup Academy. Day 2 covered french rolls, roller setting, crimping and shaping hair and attaching hair peices. The girls in the class had fun using new, different and exciting techniques to shape and mould the hair to create some amazing avant garde styles. Jen also came along to assist passing on some of her 28 years of experience. Thanks a lot to the Canberra Makeup Academy for allowing us to do this much needed course.

Trend

A big trend at the moment is dusty or smoky toned colours. This trend stems from the pastel trend seen earlier this year, however, the difference is the smoky dusty colours have more depth and are only seen in a few cool colours such as pink, blue, grey and purple.

Education

Bond Hair Religion in conjunction with Canberra Makeup Academy have started to deliver a two day masterclass. This weekend was the first of the two day masterclass run by our senior stylist Leslie. In day one of the course we cover design elements and principles, bouncy blowdrying, GHD and tong curling, directional blowdrying, messy and smooth chignons and top knots. It went really well considering most of the students had never done hair. They left the class able to whip up a hairstyle in a flash! Day 2 of the course, being held this Sunday, is due to have some great tips. Keep your eye out next week. See some of the students work below.

Published work

On the weekend Leslie was lucky enough to be a part of a photo shoot, one in an 8 part series. The shoot tells the story of King Henry VIII, 8 wives and will be on display at the High Court of Australia in the beginning of November. So keep your eyes peeled.

Fashion tips this spring/summer by Kim

For spring/summer 2012 we will be seeing vivid colours as well as neutrals and pastels. The most popular fashion colour you will see this spring/summer is mint green. Whether it be a bold piece or as an accessory. This season dresses and skirts are a must have with vivid prints, strips, geometric prints, animal prints and block colours. They have a touch of bold and are edgy. Black and white has always featured strongly in the fashion world but try and mix it up with bold coloured handbags and shoes.

New Product - Trilliance

Sebastian has brought out a new product range called Trilliance. They have a brand new shampoo, conditioner and styling paste that's primary purpose is to give amazing amounts of shine. In-salon trials have proved to be fantastic.  The shampoo and conditioner has a great amount of shine and doesn't weigh down the hair, which is great for fine haired clients as normally trying to achieve shiny hair can sometimes leave the hair flat and oily. Trilliance will solve that problem so when you are next in ask your stylist about Trilliance.

Christmas Packs

I know, Christmas packs already!!  Sebastian has introduced a pack for Xmas where if you buy a shampoo and conditioner you get another complimentary product or beautiful makeup bag for free. Keep your eye out for more Xmas pack's across our ranges as Xmas approaches.

Check in and Win

Bond Hair Religion is currently running a competition from the 16th of October until the 4th December 2012. All you have to do is log into Facebook and check in to Bond Hair Religion and you can go into the draw to win a great prize. The purpose of the competition is to show all your friends where you get your amazing hair from. Good luck.

Hair Flourishes at Floriade by Bec Collins

I was fortunate enough to work with Leslie at Floriade doing the fashion parade. We saw lots of floral patterns and bright colours. I was also lucky enough to meet Wayne Cooper and get a quick photo it was definitely a highlight of my career.

Joke of the week....
What made the tomato blush?

It saw the salad dressing.

Trends

Fishtail plaits are making a big comeback. Whether it be bridal, formal or a bit more messy you can see fishtails everywhere, even on the red carpet. They are a simple way to make it look like you have done something complicated with the effort.

An Encounter with Wayne Cooper

On the weekend our senior stylist's Leslie and Bec were fortunate enough to be involved in this years Floriade. They were involved in a show with one of Australia's best designers, Wayne Cooper. Wayne's show featured big bouncy hair with a bit of a 70's flavour. His designs also featured a 70's feel with heavy florals and patterns. Later that day Leslie also did hair for the St Vincent de Paul fashion show featuring designs from designer Gerry Wilton. The purpose of the show was to show the public that"once loved" garments could be re-designed and turned into something amazing!
