High Tea for Habitat

On the weekend our senior stylist, Leslie, was involved in this years High Tea for Habitiat. The event saw beautifully decorated tables, delicious food as well as spectacular dance and fashion shows. Dance shows were given by Salsabor, Swinging Cats and Dance Central.  There were fashion shows from a few local designers including Designer Op Shop and the amazing Rockstars and Royalty. The shows also featured a hair show from our very own Leslie.  The hair show saw some bright, colourful and playful styles as well as a "black and gold" section. A lot of imagination and creativity was put into the show, using bobby pins as caps and using gold and silver and temporary colours to create something really different. It was a great day with fun to be had by all.  Check out some of the pictures below.

Good Hair Day

On the 4th of October GHD is celebrating National Good Hair Day. As part of the day they are proposing that each client be offered a different style to what they normally have, a bit of extra effort put in to the finish and as part of that GHD have online competitions for people to win a $1000 Ksubi Voucher, flights and accommodation to Sydney and style packs for the runners up.  So on the 4th of October ask your stylist for something different and have yourself a good hair day.

NYC - by Shaun

My experience in NYC was like no other. New York for me was filled with great eating, great wine and great company. One thing I noticed in New York that was different from places I had been before is that the men there were clean cut and very well groomed. The men's fashion was immaculate featuring pops of colour and an anything goes kind of attitude. On the other hand the women's hair tended to be drab mousey browns and was very disappointing. The fashion for women was even more disappointing considering that NYC is the fashion capital of the world. I expected more. I was surprised to learn that there is a strong barbering scene and I went and got a cut throat razor shave which was both a thrilling and interesting experience. The overall experience was incredible and I can't wait to go back.

More from the guys in NY

As we speak Jen and Shaun are currently at home recuperating from their amazing holiday in New York. On the last leg of their trip they visited the Museum Of Modern Art (any captions for the picture below?),  saw a few hits on broadway including War Horse, Mary Poppins and Wicked. They also dined in some of New Yorks finest restaurants including Breakfast @ Tiffany's, lunch at Yotel and dinner at the renowned Spice Market. They have also visited a range of top salon's to see what the latest trends are and Jen has even leant how to use an old fashioned razor in one salon. All in all we think they have had a wonderful adventure and we are looking forward to having them back in the salon. A full report will be in next weeks blog.

Bond @ Toni and Guy

Last week the team at Bond Hair Religion attended a seminar held by two Technical Directors of Toni and Guy. The seminar saw the newest collection brought to you by the Toni and Guy team in the UK. The collection saw pale blondes and pastel tones, short geometric cuts but also long layered haircuts with strong warm browns and golds. Bond is always looking for ways to improve our knowledge and  bring you the latest and greatest in hair trends.

Trend

A trend that is being seen around at the moment is the hair knot. It is relatively simple and all you have to do is section hair down the middle at the nape and quite simply tie it in a knot. This trend has arisen as people are looking for simpler ways of doing their hair. This is a "messy look" but it still makes it look like you have done something with your hair.

Jen and Shaun's New York Adventure Thus Far

So far Jen and Shaun have been in New York for 3 days and they have had a jam packed adventure. They arrived in New york and checked into their 5 star hotel, Out Hotel. Out Hotel, for the first year is hosting some exclusive fashion week events, which Jen and Shaun maybe be lucky enough to catch. From there they made their way to see the one and only Madonna at Yankee Stadium. They have also been eating and partying their way though New York, visiting various restaurants and bars including the world renowned Buddakan Restaurant (for Jen's Birthday) and visiting New York's sights such as Times Square. We will give you the full run down in next weeks blog after they have returned.

Wella Trendvision Results

On Monday the 10th September Leslie and Sharnee travelled to Sydney for the Wella Trendvision National finals. They saw interpretations on the hottest new looks including all the finalists entries. A good night was had by all. Unfortunately Bond went home empty handed but thanks to all the people that voted and better luck next year.

White Balloon Day

Remember its White Balloon day this FRIDAY 7th of September. We have an abundance of merchandise for sale, so please pop into the Salon and help us support this amazing and worthwhile organisation. White Balloon Day is a Bravehearts signature event held annually during Child Protection Week to raise awareness about child sexual assault and help empower survivors to break their silence.  One in five children will be sexually assaulted.  You can easily help us reduce this alarming statistic.  The best thing to do is make a donation, just $10.00 provides personal safety education for one school aged child, $75.00 provides one crisis call support for a parent or guardian and $150.00 provides a counselling session for a child in need.  Also we have a range of merchandise for sale at the salon with all proceeds going to Bravehearts. This is a small donation that can make an enormous impact on the lives of so many vulnerable children.  Please help us support Bravehearts.

Trend - Braiding

Braiding is a major trend at the moment with people going as far as skipping the blow dry in the salon and having a braided finish. You can see braiding in all aspects of hair, from runway to bridal and formal, the braid is being translated into most styles. Maybe the next time you are in ask for a personalised braid.
